Alaskans shove 7 months worth of activities into 3 months. Summer is CRAZY busy especially when the weather is spectacular!! Here is some of the things we’ve been up to in the last month (summer weather didn’t start until June this year).
Alaska Land is a favorite park in town. Why? I have no idea because the goofy golf is the ugliest, run down course and the carousel ride is WAY over priced.
Driving behind a Subaru with handicap plates (the worse combination) I was getting really aggravated. I thought I was doing well hiding my feelings but was proved wrong when after she turned into a business without signaling Merrick said “Mom, you need a drink.” . I’ll have to work on my hiding skills next time. Though I am happy to report I was able to eat a candy bar in the car secretly with the kids in the back and no one noticed. The noisy wrapper was tricky. I was so impressed with myself and happy I didn’t have to share!
Kierran was TERRIFIED of the swing.Oh he had a love hate relationship with the new textures on the “beach” or small gravel pad at the lake.Kierran and his buddy SimoneTubing on the lake. The older two went out on a boat but were to afraid to get on the tube by themselves. We went to Birch Lake to hang with friends and had a great time!
Merrick is standing next to me in his swim trunks “Hey mom look! I’m growing boobies!”
In his know-it-all voice Barrett says, “Those aren’t boobs Merrick they’re pimples!”
Pool fun with friendsBack at AK Land we rode the train with friends. The boys got dirty in the Chickens dust bathA little surprised?Barrett got his hair did! We thought he made himself to look like Raggedy AndyWe had a lot of time at the pool to learn so I taught Kierran how to make a kiss face and how to high five!We packaged and froze our first 12 meat chickens. It was interesting. Barrett wanted nothing to do with it and cried. Merrick was playing with the guts. Night and Day those two are.
The boys were in the back seat of the car biting themselves. I don’t ask questions a lot. If they’re behaving big deal. Barrett told Merrick to bite hard so he would leave teeth marks on his forearm. Merrick’s response was “No, Barrett! If I bite to hard I’ll bite into my chicken.”
I put winter clothes away in June. This hat was made by Kierran’s great Aunt Kris. THANK YOU!We have spent A LOT of time at the pool watching the boys take lesson. Both boys did great! They are both the youngest swimmers in their classes and holding their own with the big kids!We visited my brother in law Kyle at the car wash. Kierran was NOT impressed with the colorful soap.Merr put a stop to those flames.Barrett made the NSFD facebook page with his putting out fire skills!Fire Department Open House. Merrick is doing his paramedic pose.Another summer favorite is the Shaved Ice Sisters Hut. Kierran got his first taste and was in love.
That’s it for June! Well, not really we have one week left and in a few hours are leaving for the downtown solstice fair but that will produce nothing but pictures of my boys eating cotton candy. Then there is the Run from the Cops race, a wedding, a few playdates….
Sounds like a lot of fun! Did you raise those chickens? Playing with the guts…eww.
We did raise them. It was an experience for sure.
