In the past year I’ve been searching for a few back up babysitters. Since I’ve been talking about it a few moms have stepped forward to tell me how great their child would be BUT they want the child to meet my children first, get a feel for them then babysit.
So I chatted with my neighbor and I put together a Babysitter Meet and Greet.
I invited my neighbor who invited a close friend so in total we had three families and 6 kids verses three babysitters and their moms.
It was a great evening full of tasty desserts! It was a slow warm up with the kids but after a bit the babysitters went off with the kids and played. It was great to see the kids interacting with the potential babysitters. Our kids didn’t hold back either. They went all out with their personalities.
I had name tags for everyone and I made sure every adult was introduced to every kid and their parent. I also had a form with simple questions for the babysitters to answer. Name, number, have you taken the babysitting course? Do you have a set rate you charge? What families are you interested in babysitting for and how old are you.
There were no formal speeches or introductions and in retrospect I regret that. I wish I would have had each babysitter prepare a small 2 min speech addressing their interest in child care and talk a little about themselves.
As the parents and babysitters and kids mixed around the house I could hear conversation about babysitting experience and interests and hobbies. Overall it was a great success! I’m incredibly pleased to have three new sitters to call upon. I highly recommend doing something like this for yourself!
