Kitchen Remodel

Our plans to remodel the kitchen aligned perfectly with social distancing. The state lifted the inta-state travel ban so our friend collected our cabinets and drove to Valdez to help install our new kitchen.

Like most remodel stories, it turned into a bigger event than we imagined. Once the guys dug into the electrical we saw how many shortcuts and confusing crap the builders did that wasn’t to code. It set us a day behind which isn’t too bad. I need to search for my before pictures so you can see what we are working with.

This is the scene so far.

I’ve been doing dishes in the tub which has been less than ideal but better than doing them in the toilet!

How We Raise Our Kids

If you haven’t yet figured out how we raise our kids here is a great example of how we roll.

I’m driving out of our subdivision when I approach a bike gang comprised of 4 familiar kids. I stop and roll down my window. The leader of the group, I believe his name is Merrick, yells, “Great news! The entire park is ripped out! There’s nothing there to play on!”

One of the cronies adds to the conversation, “I don’t think it’s really great news but more sad.” At which point the leader turns to his cronies and says, “It’s called sarcasm dude! Remember that!”
